The song that carved Otis Redding's name into legend has been remixed to celebrate what would have been his 80th year.
As part of an ongoing series of new mixes of Otis' classic catalogue, "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay" has gotten a new overhaul from the duo DJ Reg West & Xonda - stripping the track to little more than Otis' vocal and Booker T. Jones' as well as a spacey new mix from DJ Spinna, who also remixed the King of Soul's "Hard to Handle." They're all available to stream or download right now.

"(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay" is, of course, one of the last songs Redding committed to tape. On Dec. 10, 1967, three days after he recorded the song, Redding and four others died in a plane crash outside Madison, Wisconsin. Redding was only 26 at the time. The song, released a month after his passing, became the first song to ever posthumously reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
