Roberta Flack to Sign First 500 Pre-Orders of 'First Take'

Roberta Flack

Acclaimed songstress Roberta Flack has just shared with us that she will be signing the first 500 pre-ordered copies of the 50th Anniversary Edition of First Take

Available exclusively at SoulMusic.com, the freshly remastered reissue of her thunderous 1969 album is ready for pre-order now, with the full deluxe edition officially launching April 10. The platinum release bundles a limited edition 2CD/1LP set that features a remastered version of the original album on both vinyl and CD, along with a disc of bonus rarities, live performances and 12 unreleased demos, all in a 12”x12” hardbound book.

Today, the iconic virtuoso also premiered one of the bonus, unreleased track "Groove Me" exclusively at SoulMusic.com. A breezy, jazz-oriented number infused with Flack's velvet vocals and a titillating drum beat, "Groove Me" spins the story of infatuation, as Flack sings, "If you knew what you worked away in me, you'd come rushing to my arms. You'd hold me, and you'd whisper three little words to me. Oh yeah, you groove me."

One of the 12 never-before-heard demos that arrive in the deluxe edition, "Groove Me" also stems from songs Flack initially recorded during her audition with Atlantic Records in 1968, including "This Could Be The Start of Something" and other smooth, stunning tracks. Select tracks will be available via digital download and streaming services, starting with the today's unveiling of "Groove Me."

Flack has been honored throughout her storied career with an endless tirade of remarkable accolades, including the distinctive feat of being the only artist to win the prized Grammy for Record of the Year for two consecutive years: "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in 1973 and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" in 1974.

2020 is no different for the queen of soulful ballads, with her deluxe album arriving just days before Flack will be presented with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in April 18, Flack's fifth Grammy Award to date.
