SoulMusic Records: Larry Graham, "Chillin'"

Larry Graham

SoulMusic Records in association with Platinum Garage Recordings is proud to present “Chillin'” by the legendary Larry Graham (known for his pioneering work with his ’70s/’80s funk band Graham Central Station and then as a solo balladeer with hits like “One In A Million You”). This wonderful collection of eleven original songs, co-written and co-produced by award-winning music man Preston Glass is finally seeing the light of day, three decades after it was recorded.

Larry’s distinctive soul-icious instantly-recognizable baritone provides the perfect match for the shades of classic Philly soul (exemplified on standout tracks like “Easy Way Out,” “Man & Wife,” “If I Knew Then (What I Know Now),” “Eternal Love,” “Faraway Places,””Sweeter,” “Every I Love You” and “Unconditional Love”) and ’80s R&B jams (on the title track, “Chillin,” “Beggars Can’t Be Choosey” and “Just This Side Of Paradise”), provided by Preston (who has worked with Larry on various projects through the years, including co-writing Larry’s memorable 1986 duet with Aretha Franklin, “If You Need My Love Tonight”) .

Notes Preston, “The cover picture of Larry leaning against a white picket fence with his trademark bass taking a rest at his side tells it all, as the music is elegant, soulful and laid-back all at the same time, crafted at a time when music didn’t have to apologize for being romantic… Like fine wine, certain music too begs for time to “chill” to bring out the full flavors and aromas effectively. This is one such musical collection…”
