Donny Hathaway's Extension of a Man, the third and final album released during his lifetime, is the subject of the latest episode of the My Classic Soul podcast.

This 1973 album featured some of Hathaway's best-known recordings and compositions, from the liberation anthem "Someday We'll All Be Free" and "Valdez in the Country" to the romantic "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know" (written by legendary keyboardist Al Kooper).

This podcast retrospective is a bit of a full-circle moment for SoulMusic.com's own David Nathan, who interviewed Hathaway not long after the original release of the record. Hathaway died six years later of an apparent suicide; he was 33 years old.
