Goodbye Diana Ross, hello Jean Terrell! With a new leader singer and a new group name, The Supremes - Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong and Jean Terrell, became a fashionable entity of its own.
While Diana Ross made her departure to pursue a solo career, The Supremes took on Jean Terrell as lead vocals for this funky soul number, as she innocently sings, "Come with me and we shall run across the sky / And illuminate the night."
Released in February 1970 in the states, this first Supreme single - marking Ross' absence - ascended to the top of the charts, peaking at No. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 and hitting No. 5 on the Soul Chart. The Supremes also scored a Top 10 win with this soothing tune in the UK as well as Canada.
