The Temptations' sole surviving member and co-founder Otis Williams has teamed up with Tantor Media, a division of Recorded Books, to release an audiobook of his renowned autobiography Temptations.
Written by Williams alongside New York Times bestselling author Patricia Romanowski, the Temptations audiobook will be available March 24 through digital retailers, including Audible, Audiobooks.com, iTunes and Google Books. The CD edition will be available nationwide at outlets including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and public libraries across America.
“Our journey as told through the lens of my life transcends generations and cultures,” says the famed baritone. “It’s very exciting to see how in the 21st century, after 60 years of performing with the Temptations, my story still resonates with fans of all ages and backgrounds, and will now be easily accessible through digital technology to audiences worldwide. I am thrilled to be published by Tantor Media.”
Jennifer Eschrich, Acquisitions Managing Editor of Tantor Media shared, “It’s about time that Otis’ fans, who have listened to his music all these years, can now listen to his story! We are delighted to be working with Otis and his team to bring Temptations to the voracious audiobook market.”
Temptations first hit the shelves as a hardcover print in 1988, with a paperback edition arriving four years later from Cooper Square Press. The audiobook version includes a never-before-released introduction, narrated by Williams, and a newly revised final chapter. J.D. Jackson, the narrator for Playing for Keeps: Michael Jordan and the World He Made, narrates this audio edition.
This announcement continues the Motown legends' celebratory year of touring both nationally and internationally as they commemorate their 60th anniversary year. Their 2020 itinerary also includes the first national tour schedule of their musical Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations, which kicks off in July with a line up of 50 cities over 100 weeks.
