It’s the summer of the Queen of Soul.

It’s going to be an Aretha Franklin summer, thanks to a new box set and biopic based on the Queen of Soul. Last week, a few samples from each were released.

Aretha, the career-spanning 4CD box set that includes 19 unreleased tracks alongside scores of hits and rarities, has officially come back to the release calendar after originally intended to hit stores last year. And fans have been rewarded for their patience with a never-before-heard cover of “You Light Up My Life,” recorded in 1978. (The song was a No. 1 hit the year prior for Debby Boone, resting atop the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks.) The Aretha set will now be released July 30.

Additionally, Jennifer Hudson has released a new song that will feature on the soundtrack to Respect, the film based on Franklin’s life in which she stars. “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” the movie’s sole new song, was co-written by Hudson with Carole King (who helped pen Franklin’s legendary “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”) and British songwriter Jamie Hartman, with handling production duties. The film’s production studio, MGM, has also released an extended look at the film, featuring interview footage with Hudson, co-stars Marlon Wayans and Forest Whitaker, director Liesl Tommy and writer Tracey Scott Wilson.
