Following the two well-received digital singles – “Summer Vibe” and “Down In Mexico” – released this year, Phil continues his collaboration with award-winning producer/songwriter Preston Glass which he describes as “a return to soul music for me, with some blues and other musical spices added!”
Chicago-born Phil’s prolific career has included performances and recordings with an array of artists including John Mayall, Tower of Power, Booker T, Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton & Branford Marsalis, Dianne Reeves and Bobby “Blue” Bland among others.
The title track of his thirteenth album says it all, Phil adds, ”With “Outside My Comfort Zone,” for the first time, I’m not wearing all the hats on a record. I’ve been fortunate to have the ability to make records where I do it all myself, writing, producing, arranging, playing, On this album, I’ve had a completely different approach: a fresh way of doing things for me.”
